BINSAR
ABOUT THE PLACE

Overlooked by the majestic snow-peaks, surrounded by forests of oak, pine and deodar, Binsar is a snatch of paradise at a height of 2,412 meter playing host to a number of avian creatures and smaller fauna. The meditating snow-peaks of the Himalaya evoke a feeling of stately grandeur. The crowds are left far behind and there is nothing to stop you from having a silent communion with Nature.

HOW TO REACH

There is no direct bus to Binsar from anywhere. Hiring a vehicle or joining a package tour is the only option. Almora (30 km) is the nearest big town and transport hub. You can take a bus from Almora till a place called Kaprakhan and then trek or hire a jeep to cover the last 14 km.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

March–June and September–November are times to visit Binsar.

TRAVEL TIPS • Entry fee to the forest is Rs. 40/- per head without car; Rs. 50/- with car.
• Hiring a guide from the tourist lodge for Rs. 150/- adventurers can trek 3 km through the forest to zero point.
