BHITARKANIKA
Bhitarkanika in Orissa is a mangrove forest situated between the meeting point of rivers Bramani and Baitarani. It is a paradise for birds. Besides birds like Kingfisher, Bramani Swan, Snailshell, White Crow, Sun bird, White sickle bird, winter migratory birds like Pelican, Snowbird, Flamingos, Egrets and White Ibis can also be seen. The forest is full of wild life like the wild cat, wild hogs, deer, cheetah, etc.
HOW TO REACH
Nearest railway station is Cuttack/Bhadrak. Journey can also begin after disembarking at Baleshwar. Distance from Baleswar to Bhadrak is 62 km. Bhadrak can be reached by train or bus from places like Puri, Bhubaneswar, Kharagpur, etc. From Bhadrak station, take the rickshaw to the bus stand. From there you will get the bus or private car to Chandbali. Distance is 50 km. From Chandbali ferry service is available to cross over to Naltapatia Ghat. From there by rickshaw 4 km away is the Bhitarkanika reserve forest.
