CHANDRAPURI
From Rudraprayag traveling 25 km along the left bank of Mandakini towards Gaurikund is the small town of Chandrapuri – a settlement amid the stillness of forest-covered mountains and gently flowing river Mandakini with the mountain range of Kedarnath guarding the small town. What draws people towards Chandrapuri is its quietude. The pristine environment often filled with the chirping of the birds brings about a heavenly delight in the mind of the solitude seeker. Tourists can spend some time by sitting idle on a boulder with feet dipped into the cold river water and watching the Sun go down behind the mountains. Chandrapuri has good market places and a jeep stand.
