KAUSANI
ABOUT THE PLACE

Get closer to the meditating Himalayan ranges at Kausani, a small town fringed with shadowy grooves of Pine, Oak and Deodar trees at the height of 1,890 meters. The 300 km stretch of snow-capped crests dazzling against a turquoise blue cloudless sky is a marvelous view to behold. The peaks that can be viewed from Kausani are Chaukhamba, Nilkantha, Nandaghunti, Nandadevi, Miraghunti, Devidarshan, Trishul, Nandakot and Pancha-chulli.

To commemorate the 12-day stay of Mahatma Gandhi at Kausani, an Ashram called Gandhi Ashram has been built. This is an abode of peace. Visitors can also buy locally made handicrafts at the Ashram.
